Press release: December 16, 2019

Company recognized for providing IT teams with live online learning experiences from the industry’s most respected experts

BOSTON—December 16, 2019O’Reilly, the premier source for insight-driven learning on technology and business, today announced that it’s been named to the Training Industry Top 20 IT Training Companies list for the third straight year. Training Industry, a leading research and information resource for corporate learning leaders, prepares the Training Industry Top 20 report on critical sectors of the training marketplace to better inform professionals about the best and most innovative providers of training services and technologies.

O’Reilly was recognized for being the only solution that offers true multimodal learning. Within user organizations, beginners and top performers alike have on-demand access to live training courses, in-depth learning paths, interactive coding environments, and a vast collection of text and video—all from the smartest, most innovative luminaries in technology and business. The company’s network of experts spans topics such as software architecture, DevOps, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), the cloud, and more to bring emerging trends to light and keep users ahead of the curve.

“For 40 years, O’Reilly has been dedicated to educating technology professionals through learning scenarios and tools that not only suit their learning needs but keep them ahead of the curve,” said Laura Baldwin, president of O’Reilly. “We’re honored that Training Industry has recognized us again as a leader in the fast-paced IT training market, highlighting the importance of continuous training, learning, and skills development.”

O’Reilly recently introduced the following features to O’Reilly online learning:

  • Interactive learning integrates interactive learning scenarios and sandboxes into O’Reilly online learning to help users master new technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, Python, and more. Users can learn in real environments with the actual tools they would work with in production, right in their web browser. The initial set of interactive learning scenarios is available today with more exclusive scenarios being introduced in the coming weeks.
  • Expert playlists enable users to create and organize lists of content around a topic and share and follow playlists within their organization. Expert playlists provide high-value, in-demand content curated by technology and business luminaries. Options span multiple topics and modes, including books, videos, and learning paths.
  • The Insights API enables business leaders to go beyond completion metrics and access deeper-level insights into specific learning behaviors. Providing a single-pane-of-glass view into learning modules—from linear and nonlinear learning patterns to deepening and broadening topic engagement—gives actionable data to better understand and measure how teams learn.
  • Jupyter notebooks enable users to apply skills they’re reading about in real time, input, edit, and run code, and render live results aligned with the author’s explanation. Users can download notebooks to read, review, and practice with.

“This year’s Top 20 IT Training Companies are leading the way in the constantly evolving market for information technology training by expanding the breadth of their offerings. They cover the most sought-after vendor training courses and certifications to meet and often exceed the needs of the learner,” added Ken Taylor, president of Training Industry, Inc. “These top companies are expanding the modalities through which their training is delivered to create a more blended learning experience. These modalities include instructor- and virtual instructor led training, self-paced e-learning, and immersive practice environments using virtual labs.”

Selection to the 2019 Top 20 IT Training Companies list was based on the breadth and quality of the IT training content and courses offered, the company’s leadership and innovation in IT training, its size and growth potential, the strength of its clients, and its geographic reach.
