Sebastopol, CA, March 1, 2012—O'Reilly's Strata Conference brings big data back to the Big Apple for its second year October 23-25, 2012, at the Hilton New York. Co-presented with Cloudera and joining forces with Hadoop World, Strata New York explores the changes brought to technology and business by big data, data science, and pervasive computing. Chairs Edd Dumbill and Alistair Croll have opened the call for proposals.

"Data forms the nervous system of our society, and demand for data skills has never been higher. In New York, we've joined forces with Hadoop World to become the central event for big data. As the home of data science and big data, Strata can equip the builders and shapers of computing's future," says Edd.

"We want to hear from all those using data to change lives and business: data scientists, engineers, policy makers, and those who know how to tell stories and communicate with data."

O'Reilly Media announced the New York event at Strata in California, which sold out to a crowd of over 2,500.

Chairs Edd Dumbill and Alistair Croll seek proposals for tutorials and sessions on topics in the fields of Data, Business, and Interfaces. You can see specific topic suggestions for sessions and tutorials at http://oreil.ly/Aj40C6, and we encourage you to create your own topics, too.

Proposals are due by April 23, 2012.

Registration opens in June, 2012.
