Head First Servlets and JSP--New from O'Reilly: Passing the Sun Certified Web Component Developer Exam

Press release: April 23, 2008

Head First Servlets and JSP Sebastopol, CA—The new J2EE 1.5 Sun Certified Web Component Developer (SCWCD) exam is tough--much tougher than the previous exam. It's three hours and sixty-nine questions that can make even the most competent Sun Certified Java Developers break out in a sweat. That is, if they haven't prepared beforehand with a brain-friendly copy of Head First Servlets & JSP, Second Edition (O'Reilly, US $49.99). Written by Bryan Basham, Kathy Sierra, and Bert Bates, the book combines the stellar teaching power of the creators of the Head First Series with the inside knowledge they bring from also being on the development team of the SCWCD exam. Basham was lead designer on both the original and the new version of the exam.

This new edition of Head First Servlets & JSP will help Java Developers learn the material so well, in fact, that they can pass the brand new J2EE 1.5 exam. If that's what they want to do, that is. But maybe you don't care about the exam, you just need to use servlets and JSP in your next project. Or you're working on a deadline. You don't want to waste your time with a book that makes sense only AFTER you're an expert (or worse, one that puts you to sleep).

No problem. This book's brain-friendly approach drives the knowledge straight into your head. You'll interact with servlest and JPSs in ways that help you learn quickly and deeply. You'll see why so many reviewers call this book a "page-turner." And most important, this book will help you use what you learn. It won't get you through the exam only to have you forget everything the next day. The book includes a brand-new mock exam created specifically to simulate the real test-taking experience.

Head First Servlets & JSP is ideal for both novice and experienced Java developers who are preparing for the arduous SCWCD exam, or who are upgrading their skills from the J2EE 1.4 platform to the current Java EE 5 platform.
